We're Here to Help

The seriousness of drugs related offences varies greatly from charges of simple possession of drugs, to being concerned in the supply, supply, production or importation of drugs.

The seriousness of the offence will be affected by whether the drug involved is a class A or class B or class C drug and the quantity of drugs involved. Possession of drugs for personal use is normally a matter for the Sheriff Court or the Justice of the Peace Court. Acting as a courier, supplying, importing or cultivating drugs will often resulted in a High Court prosecution.

I have extensive experience representing clients in this particular area of law. In large-scale or small-scale drugs cases attention to detail and thorough preparation are very important. Careful attention must be given to the lawfulness or otherwise of any searches carried out and of any surveillance and consideration as to the admissibility of evidence. These factors can be critical to the outcome of any prosecution. Recreational or occasional drug use is becoming more prevalent and it is important to be aware that conviction can lead not only to loss of employment but also restrictions on travel visas. It is important to obtain expert advice as soon as possible and in advance of any prosecution commencing.
